Before sharing more of that personal timeline, I wanted to establish a documented starting point: the safety recalls associated with the 2024 Wrangler.

These campaigns cover issues ranging from lighting and rearview cameras to loss of drive power, engine failure, and fire risks. Some concern the plug-in hybrid 4xe specifically. Others apply to particular vehicles within the broader Wrangler lineup.

This article summarizes the U.S. vehicle recall campaigns returned by NHTSA’s 2024 “Wrangler” and “Wrangler 4xe” searches as of October 4, 2026. Combining those results and removing a duplicate produces 14 distinct campaigns. That includes an older battery recall subsequently replaced by another campaign.

It does not mean that every 2024 Wrangler has 14 recalls, that every listed recall remains open, or that my own vehicle is affected by every issue. Applicability depends on the vehicle’s VIN, equipment, production history, and completed repairs.

The 2024 Wrangler Recall List

The table below summarizes the identified campaigns. NHTSA’s notice for the expanded campaign explicitly includes vehicles that had already received the earlier repair. A service receipt showing completion of the 2024 campaign therefore does not, by itself, establish that the later battery campaign has been completed.

That distinction matters when evaluating a used vehicle. Ask which campaign was completed, on what date, and whether a newer campaign still applies. A general assurance that “the battery recall was done” is less useful than a repair order identifying the actual campaign number.

For affected vehicles awaiting the applicable battery remedy, follow the manufacturer’s current instructions about charging and parking. Do not assume those restrictions have ended simply because an earlier recall repair was performed.

Loss of Drive Power and Engine Damage Are Separate Issues

Two additional 4xe campaigns address different potential causes of serious problems.

Campaign 25V710000 concerns an over-the-air software update that can cause a loss of drive power. Campaign 25V766000 concerns debris inside the engine that can cause engine failure, loss of drive power, or an engine-compartment fire. These are separate campaigns with different remedies. Completing one should not be treated as completing the other.

A recall can help identify a known risk, but it does not establish the cause of every owner’s symptoms. In documenting my own experience, I will distinguish what happened while we were driving from what a technician or manufacturer has confirmed.

What This Means for Used-Car Buyers

A model’s recall history and an individual vehicle’s current recall status answer different questions.

The model history shows which safety issues have affected vehicles in that lineup. A VIN lookup identifies outstanding recalls for a particular vehicle. NHTSA explains that its VIN search does not show recalls already repaired and may not immediately include every vehicle in a newly announced campaign. It also excludes manufacturer customer-service campaigns that are not safety recalls.

Before buying a used 2024 Wrangler, I would request the VIN, check it through NHTSA, and ask a Jeep dealer for the vehicle’s recall and campaign completion history. I would also request repair orders for completed work, particularly battery, engine, and software repairs.

For a 4xe, ask specifically whether any charging or parking restrictions remain in effect. For any affected Wrangler, ask about the separate power-steering wiring campaign. A completed battery repair does not establish that an unrelated fire-risk campaign has been addressed.

An independent inspection can provide additional information about a vehicle’s condition, but it should supplement the recall and service records.

Why I Am Documenting This

My purpose is to help people make informed decisions about the Jeep brand. That requires accuracy about both the problems documented in the recall record and the limits of what those records establish.

A recall does not mean every affected vehicle has experienced the defect. A completed recall also does not erase the inconvenience or concern an owner may have experienced before the repair. Both points belong in an honest account.

Scope note: This article covers U.S. vehicle safety recall campaigns returned under NHTSA’s 2024 Wrangler and Wrangler 4xe model listings on the date above. It is not an inventory of every technical service bulletin, customer satisfaction campaign, or separately recalled replacement part. Recall populations and repair instructions can change.
